"Sun Struck" 8x10 Acrylic on a canvas panel

I was happy to be able to paint with my friends from the SVPAP the last two Mondays. Thanks to Petra who was kind enough to share her wonderful property with us. I wanted to capture the wonderful sun light that was highlighting the bright red bee balm that was in full bloom. As the sun kisses little areas of the grasses, tree leaves and shows us the stumps and rock hiding in the shadows. The curve of the tree just framed everything perfectly. There is a stream flowing behind the flowers. Very peaceful!

With a lot of encouragement from my painting friends and family I bravely entered and participated in my first plein air quick draw competition!
