I'm always happy and grateful when my paintings find a home. Thank you Perry County Council of the Arts Gallery in Newport, PA. and the new owners. 

There is always a story behind every painting. This painting evolved during a plein air painting trip on the Gettysburg Battlefield. He perched himself on top of an apple tree nearby and just gave us the dickens the whole time we were painting! I knew I would paint him later in the studio so I took careful notes and pictures to help the painting develop. I chuckle every time I see this painting just thinking about that day!

This painting has been on my to do list for awhile. While I was plein air painting in Gettysburg, this handsome, but sassy mockingbird seemed to be amused at what I was doing. He hung around and chatted awhile. Here he is on top a young apple tree in all his glory!
